I was asked in late 2000 to determine the best business system for the then-forming Lonestar Freightliner Group. Dealer2000™ (predecessor to Excede™) provided the only choice that was current technology software with the flexibility to implement in a distributed manner, yet still provide consolidated reporting. Being hardware independent allowed us to buy hardware on the open market at competitive prices. Migrating from three different old-school providers, the Lonestar Freightliner Group converted all locations during 2001 and has never looked back.

The open-database architecture of Excede™ has provided many options for export, reporting and third-party add-on software to meet some of our unique needs. As a provider of commercial vehicle software, Procede is focused on providing the best software in the industry for our needs without being distracted by other markets. After 17 years with the same DMS, we were understandably nervous about moving away from them. We were probably using 15% to 20% of our previous system but we were not happy with the high monthly support fees and the “click” charges. In a new system it was important for us to have a “true” windows platform and accuracy in our reports, which we were not getting with our previous system.

One of our pleasant surprises was not only did the Procede people know their product but they had intimate knowledge of the inner workings of a dealership so that during setup they were able to offer suggestions so we would get the most out of our new DMS.

Support is so important, one area that had me a little concerned was how we would initiate support requests. It is done via the web not by phone. As it turns out the response time for Excede™ is quicker than our old DMS; previously when we called they had to hand-off your problem to “the next support level”. The support we receive from Procede is unmatched.

The structure of the Excede™ database allows us to extract information in several formats, allowing the end user a lot of flexibility. Document retrieval is simple and quick, scanning and archiving are things of the past.

After making the switch to Procede, we could not be more pleased with the product, the people and the support. My only regret is that we should have made the switch sooner.

We were looking for the best DMS to replace our outdated DMS of 13 years. After 4 years of researching the available DMSs we decided on Procede. Their 16 week conversion plan seemed extreme but proved to be thorough and well thought out. The conversion was more like having a consultant team assigned to us rather than a conversion team. We virtually redesigned the way our dealership operates. The go live weekend in September 2005 went extremely well and after the first week we knew we had made the right decision. Coming from a 1980s vintage text based DMS, it took us a year to fully grasp all the abilities of the Excede™ software and SQL Server. Excede™ allows the user so much more direct access to the data than we had before. It allows us to easily find problems and correct them without using traditional reports that rarely show you the information you are looking for. In our five years with Procede we have seen a positive evolution of their product and support system. The staff has been excellent to work with and their user conferences have been key to their product improvement.

I feel our switch to Procede has been an important factor to our ability to survive these tough economic times. Without the process improvement we have been able to achieve through the use of Excede™ it would be a very difficult task to stay profitable today.
