From the Desk of Larry Kettler: Prevention is the Best Medicine

This upcoming May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and as part of this, I wanted to share my own personal story to raise awareness for this cause. In 2020, my dermatologist noticed an unusual lesion on my skin; upon further examination, they informed me that I could potentially have skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US, with over 5 million new cases per year. While skin cancer is a scary diagnosis, it is also highly preventable; 90% of nonmelanoma skin cancers and 85% of the melanoma variety are associated with exposure to UV radiation from the sun.

Thankfully, after a comprehensive biopsy, it was determined that my results were benign. That got me thinking; even though I was fortunate to have a clean bill of health, prevention really is the best form of medicine. While it may be hard to stay out of the sun in sunny San Diego, with adequate skin protection, it’s possible to stay safe while enjoying the sunshine. To assist, we’d like to share some sun safety resources with you.

On the topic of prevention, as many of you know, preventing issues before they arise is key to running a successful dealership. One of the ways to proactively prevent issues is to ensure that your dealership personnel is up-to-speed with Excede best practices.
